Is it Possible to Write a Book in 2 Days?

By Ruth Barringham

Writing takes time.

If you’re a writer, you’ll know this already.

The ‘secret’ to earning money from your writing is to write a lot.

No successful writer ever made a lot of money from writing just one or two things.

Writing is all about numbers. The more books you have, the more sales you can make.

So if you’ve only written one book and you sell one copy a day, you’ll make a few dollars a day, depending on the price of the book and your profit. As for instance, if you’ve published an ebook and you earn $5 profit from each sale, then one sale a day will earn you $5.

But what if you’ve written 10 ebooks? If you’re still selling one copy of each ebook a day and earning $5 per copy, then you’d now be earning $50 a day.

And if you’ve written and published 20 ebooks then you’d be earning $100 a day (which is $36,500 a year. And that’s passive income, meaning, you don’t have to work every day to earn that money because you’re not paid by the hour.

Now imagine that you can write books really quickly. If you’ve written 20 ebooks already then you’ll be getting really fast because speed comes with practice.

Writing and publishing one ebook will take longer if you’ve never done it before. But once you’ve done it over and over again, everything will take less time because you’ll have a routine and all your online accounts will be set up and you’ll know how to use them.

But before you can publish 10 or 20 ebooks, you first have to be able to write them quickly.

And this is easy to do because, as you’re about to discover, you can write an ebook in as little as 2 Days.

I know how quickly ebooks can be written and published because I do it myself all the time.

I’m a busy writer and I’ve rearranged my writing schedule so that I can fit in all the things I have to do.

I work online across 3 different niches so I’m always writing articles, blog posts, emails, social media posts, doing marketing and book writing. As you can imagine, it takes time to fit it all in, that’s why I work to a tight schedule every week.

Writing books (or ebooks) takes up the most time because there’s so much writing to do. But it needn’t take up more time than is necessary.

If you already know what you want to write about and have an outline ready, then writing a book in 2 days is easy.

My only forewarning here would be to say that the 2 days needs to be consecutive days, otherwise you’ll lose your train of thought and it will take a while to figure out where you were up to and what you’ve already written.

To make it easy, let’s look at the math of how you can write a book in just 2 days.

First of all you only have 2 days. This might not seem like much time but it’s plenty, as you’re about to see.

So schedule 2 consecutive days to write your book. A perfect scenario would be to schedule 2 days every week to write a book. That way you could write one book a week which would mean that by this time next year, you’ll be the author of 50 published ebooks.

That’s the beauty of ebooks is that they are so fast to publish which means you can publish your book in minutes and then move on with the rest of your writing.

Naturally, you don’t want to ‘burn out’ during your 2 days of writing, so instead of trying to write for 8 hours a day, you only need to write for 4 hours a day, and you’ll still get your book written.

Here’s how your time breaks down:

A “how to” ebook or a novella, (depending on whether you want to write non-fiction or fiction) needs to only be around 20 thousand words.

So if you were writing for 8 hours (4 hours a day, 2 days a week) then you’d need to write (type?) at a speed of 2,500 words per hour (2,500 words/hour x 8 hours = 20,000 words).

Now if  you divide 2,500 words per hour by 60 (because there are 60 minutes in an hour) it gives you your per minute speed which is 41.66 words per minute.

And that’s not fast. Most people can type between 50 and 80 words per minute at an average speed, so 41 words per minute is quite do-able.

If you want to test how fast you can type, there is a free online typing speed test that is easy to do and really useful.

If you can type at 41 words per minute, it means that in one hour you can type 2,460 words, so in 4 hours you can type 9,840 words x 2 days = 19,680 words.

Which equals a short ‘how to’ book or novella written in just 2 days.

Include proof reading as well and cover creating (which can be outsourced so you don’t need to spend any time on it) and it’s still only 2 ½ days of time taken

Which means that you can easily write and publish an ebook in just one week.

That means it’s possible to have 50 ebooks selling online in just one year.

And going back to our original scenario of $5 per ebook and selling only one copy a day, it means you could be earring $250 a day which (over 365 days a year) is $91,250 a year.

Of course, if you’ve written and published so many ebooks, you’ll probably sell several copies of each ebook every day which can multiply your income to several thousand dollars a week.

Now that’s not bad for passive income from working only 2 days a week.
